Zahájení semináře na záchranu poškozených papírových suter probíhá v klášteře Gandantegchinlen - obrázek

Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO and Goethe-Institut Mongolei are jointly organizing a seminar themed upon "Rehabilitation and safeguard an endangered documentary heritage" based on theory and practices at the Gandantegchinlen Monastery in Ulaanbaatar between September 24 and October 03, 2012. The seminar is being chaired by Dirk Perlman, an expert of paper document at the UNESCO and officials from Mongolian Academy of Sciences, National Library of Mongolia, General Authority of Archive, Center of Cultural Heritage, Children’s Book Center, Gandantegchinlen Monastery and the Choijin Lama Temple are participating.

The seminar is aimed to learning the basic methods of paper salvage that rare books and documents’ damages may caused by as small as a water spot that comes from leaks of water pipes or sudden accidents such as flash flood. A paper damaged by water might begin to distort its writings would possibly fade and the pages might stick together.
