Within the meeting, parties exchanged views on accumulated abundant airport operation and management experience, moreover to broaden projects started earlier, for instance widening the existing airstrips in several local aerodromes to receive larger planes and renew the technical supplies in several phases.
Currently, the Chinggis Khaan International Airport is only ranked as the first-rate airport with its operations and services in Mongolia, where airports in Uvs, Khovd, Bayan-Ulgii, Khuvsgul, Bayankhongor, Umnugovi and Dornod aimags ranked as the second-rate, followed by third-rate airports of Zavkhan, Govi-Altai, Uvurkhangai, Khentii and Sukhbaatar aimags. Also, airports of Bulgan (Khovd aimag), Tosontsengel (Zavkhan aimag), Khatgal (Khuvsgul aimag), Kharkhorin (Uvurkhangai aimag) and Mandalgovi (Dundgovi aimag) are rated as the fourth grade.
Moreover, private owned airports are running its activities in the territory named Ovoot, Tavan Tolgoi and Oyu Tolgoi in Umnugovi aimag.
In Mongolia, there are 8 aerodromes with hard paved runways for on and out boards, 14 aerodromes with earth-road strips. Recent years, private entrepreneurs are engaging in aero sector largely, hence private owned airports are planned to be constructed, for instance in Tsetserleg and Mogoin Gol centers of Khuvsgul aimag, Durvuljin (Zavkhan aimag), Darvi and Khushuut (Khovd aimag), Tseel and Altainkhuder (Govi-Altai), Shinejinst (Bayankhongor aimag), and Sainshand and Zamyn-Uud centers of Dornogovi aimag, Mongolia.
